Goliath / Gantry Crane

Gantry cranes are similar to regular overhead cranes except that the bridge carrying the trolley is rigidly supported on two or more legs running on fixed rails or other runways. These legs eliminate the need for supporting runway columns and connect end trucks that run on rails, either embedded in or laid on top of the floor.

They are ideal for workshops with low roof tie height where a regular bridge crane would restrict the lifting height, as well as for locations where bay lengths are excessive or variable. Gantry cranes are also well-suited for sites where the crane must be relocated or where loads are to be shifted from outside the crane span, such as overhang areas.
